New Now on Mac

Edit videos
by asking.

Tell Dude what you want: subtitles in Thai or English, a title on the hook, the pauses gone. Dude edits your real timeline, and your footage never leaves your Mac.

How it works

Say it like you'd say it to an editor.

No keyframes to learn and no menus to dig through. Point at a moment, say what you want, and Dude does the edit on your real timeline, where you can still drag and trim by hand.

Cut the pauses and the ums Add Thai subtitles, and spell Warit right Make this card appear half a second earlier Put our logo in the bottom corner from 0:12 Make a 9:16 version for Reels Hit the title on the beat

Bring footage, or start blank

Drop clips from Finder onto the timeline. They're used where they are on your Mac; nothing gets copied or uploaded.

Ask Dude

Dude gets the film and your playhead time, makes the change, and the preview reloads. Every run is one undo step.

Export an MP4

Pick where to save it. You get one finished file with picture, subtitles and sound mixed, ready to post.

What Dude can do

Edit talking heads. Design motion. In one app.

01

Plan it before you film it.

Give Dude your script, your notes and any footage you already have. It drafts a storyboard of chapters and shots while you watch, and Build first cut lays the board on the timeline in one step.

  • Works from scripts, briefs, clips and files
  • Timing, frame, script and audio notes for every shot
  • Share the board as a PDF, or build the first cut
02

Cut, transcribe, and caption by asking.

Say what's wrong with the take. Dude finds the pauses and the ums, closes the gaps, and captions what's left, with names spelled the way you wrote them.

  • Thai and English transcription, on your Mac
  • Captions and comments move with every cut
  • Every run is one undo step
03

Try every hook. Keep the one that works.

Ask Dude for variations and it suggests a few directions: a different hook, a tighter cut, another ending. Pick the ones you like and Dude makes each one while Main stays as it is. Then play them side by side to see how your reel works with each edit.

  • Dude suggests hooks and edits as cards you pick
  • Compare up to four side by side, on one clock
  • Export one, or every variation at once
04

Your brand, every time.

Point Dudedit at your website's GitHub repo or a folder of brand files. Dude studies it once and keeps a brand kit, so every title card and motion film comes out in your colors, type and logo.

  • Colors, fonts and logos pulled from your code
  • Logos and icons, ready to animate
  • Read-only: your repo is never changed
05

Draw on the frame, then hand it over.

Pause where it's wrong. Box it, arrow it, pin it, and write what you want. When you're done, send the whole list to Dude and it works through every note at its own time.

  • Pin, pen, arrow and box, right on the picture
  • Notes sit on the timeline at their exact time
  • Dude ticks each one off when it's done

Questions

Good to know

Do I need to know video editing?

No. You can do everything by asking. If you do know editing, the timeline is all there: drag to reorder, drag an edge to trim, S to split, I / O and X to cut a range.

Why do I need my own AI account?

Dude is Claude or Codex working inside the editor, whichever you connect. Using your own account means you're not paying a markup on AI usage, and your plan's limits are yours. You can switch any time in Settings → AI connection.

Does my footage get uploaded?

No. Clips are read in place on your Mac, and transcription and export run locally. Only the parts of the project you ask Dude about are sent to the AI you connect.

Which languages do subtitles support?

Thai and English, with a list of names to spell right. Subtitles you edit by hand are never overwritten.

What happens when the trial ends?

Your projects stay on your Mac. Buy a licence and paste the key in Settings → Licence to keep going.

Is there a Windows version?

Not yet. Dudedit is Mac-only for now.

What Dudedit and this site collect, and what they don't

Your work stays on your Mac

Projects, footage, brand kits and exports are kept on your Mac. Dudedit reads footage where it lies and never uploads it to us. Subtitles are made on your Mac too.

Dude and your AI

Dude works through your own AI account: Claude (a Claude Code sign-in or an Anthropic API key) or OpenAI Codex (a ChatGPT sign-in or an OpenAI API key). What you ask Dude, and the project files and frames it looks at to answer, go to Anthropic or OpenAI under your account and their terms. They never pass through us. Your API key is kept encrypted in your Mac's Keychain.

Anonymous usage counts

The app counts which features are used so we know what to improve, sent to Google Analytics: things like the kind of project you start, comments and markups, messages to Dude, brand kits, exports, time spent in the app, light or dark mode, which AI you use and how it is connected, and the app and macOS version. Each Mac gets a random ID.

It never sends your files, file or project names, footage, brand assets, or anything you type. Turn it off any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage.

Licences

Purchases and licence keys are handled by Polar. The app checks your key with Polar, which sends the key by email when you buy.
